Step One - Choose a silhouette and depth

General Notes

  • Two depth options available for all silhouettes: Standard (38”) and Relaxed (40”)

  • All throw pillows represented in line drawings are 20”

  • Standard seat height for all depths is 19”

  • The silhouettes include multiple sizes of chairs, loveseats, sofas, and sectional pieces to fill most needs. We also offer most silhouettes by the inch for an additional charge. This applies to all silhouettes except the Sleeper Sofa, Square Corner and Curved Corner

Step Two - Choose an arm and cushion type

General Notes

  • All arms are available with T-cushion or square cushion

  • All items are standard with Baker Comfort seat cushion(s), optional cushions are available

  • Ottomans are standard with attached Baker Comfort cushion tops

  • Arms, back pillows and seat cushions are standard welted on Chelsea and Stratford arm items. All other arm styles are standard weltless

Design suggestions

Arm & Cushion Shape

  • Although you can order each arm style with a Square or T-Shaped Cushion, we do not recommend using a Square Shaped Cushion with the Chelsea Arm (stick with the T-Shaped Cushion)

Step Three - Choose a back

General Notes

  • All backs are standard with Baker Comfort back pillow(s) and Baker Comfort Plush throw pillow(s) where applicable

  • The Knife Edge and Boxed Back pillows are both loose pillow styles. We do not recommend semi-attached backs in Baker Elements due to the inability to adjust the back during and after use while retaining signature Baker comfort

  • Multi-pillow backs are not available on two arm chairs or chaises

Design suggestions

Loose-Back Upholstery

  • Loose-back styles offer both visual and actual comfort

  • The Boxed-Back Pillow works best with contemporary arms (like Madison, Barcelona, Delmar, Hampton and Milan)

  • The Knife-Edge Back Pillow works best with traditional arm (like Chelsea and Stratford)

Tight-Back Upholstery

  • Tight-back styles offer a cleaner, more tailored look

  • The Tight Boxed Back works best with non-pleated arms (like Madison, Barcelona, Delmar, Hampton and Milan)

  • The Tight Roll Back works best with arms that feature pleating (like Chelsea and Stratford)

  • Not available on sleepers

  • Not available with Bryant Arm

Multi-Pillow Upholstery

  • Multi-pillow styles offer a wonderful opportunity to play with fabric-to-frame application and are best when used on loveseats, sofas and sectionals

  • Like the loose-back style, the multi-pillow style offers both “visual” and actual comfort

  • The Multi Knife-Edge Back Pillow works best with a more traditional arm (like Chelsea and Stratford)

  • The Multi Boxed Back Pillow works best with a more transitional or contemporary arm (like Madison, Barcelona, Delmar, Hampton and Milan)

  • Throw pillows are not included

Kick Pleat Flounce

Step Four - Choose a base

Design suggestions

  • A Tight Boxed Back with a Hampton Arm works better with an Exposed Leg or Upholstered Base option

Dressmaker Flounce

  • A Dressmaker Flounce wants to “live” with a more traditional style

  • When specifying a dressmaker Flounce:

    • Specify a T-Shaped Cushion to achieve the signature “waterfall” pleat detail

    • With the Square Cushion, you lose the beauty of the design

Floating Base

  • The Floating Base with Border tends to look best when paired with a T-Shaped Cushion

Base with Border

  • When specifying a border (floating base or exposed leg) keep in mind:

    • If the arm style has welt trim standard (Chelsea and Stratford), the border will also have welting

    • If the arm is weltless, the border will also be weltless

Exposed Leg with Border

  • Everything that applies to borders and the Floating Base applies to borders and the Exposed Leg:

    • If the arm style has welt trim standard (Chelsea and Stratford), the border will also have welting

    • If the arm is weltless, the border will also be weltless

Leg Height & Front Rails

  • When specifying an Exposed Leg:

    • The thickness of the front rail will change based on the height of the leg you select

    • So, a taller leg will have a narrower front rail and a shorter leg will have a wider front rail

Step Five - Choose a Leg and Finish

General Notes

  • Identical Front and Back Legs: leg styles where the front and back legs are the same, the side rails are straight

  • Decorative Front Leg Only: leg styles where the decorative legs are on the front only, the side rails have a serpentine shape

  • Sofa decks will be reduced to accommodate taller leg options

  • Exposed wood legs are standard with Antique Walnut finish and can be ordered with optional finishes as with any Baker upholstery product

  • Sleeper sofas only available with: Small block foot and Medium block foot

  • The Turned legs are available to use on the Exposed leg and Exposed leg with Border bases. These legs are not available on Sleeper sofas and not recommended for use on Sectional Silhouettes

  • Decorative front leg only available with Barcelona, Bryant, Chelsea, Madison and Stratford arms

Design suggestions

  • A Tight Boxed Back with a Hampton Arm works better with an Exposed Leg or Upholstered Base option
