Create Comfort with Texture

Designing your dream bedroom? Using unique and sumptuous textures is a powerful design tool that’s guaranteed to bring opulence and comfort to your space.

Of course, everything has a texture, even the sleekest of surfaces; after all, smooth is a texture. But for a bedroom that feels cozy and complete, we recommend playing with textures that have pattern and movement. Both visual and tactile, these textures appeal to our senses, are soothing, and keep the room interesting. For some texture inspiration, our designers have rounded up some of our favorite tactile bedroom pieces.

Bone inlay is a great way to add texture to the bedroom and is a popular option for the door fronts of our McKinney Nightstands. We especially love the look of bone inlay paired with the soft biscuit tufting of our Wyeth bed and wall panels.

Go beyond the texture of fabric with our Madeleine Chair. The wood open fretwork on the back adds dimension, movement and unexpected detail to any seating arrangement.

Organic materials such as Lampakanay, a tall sea grass, are a great way to create a cozy bedroom retreat. Known as a powerhouse plant, Lampakanay’s uses range from food to medicine, and its stems can be separated and woven for unique furniture details. We love the way the Lampakanay wrapped drawer fronts soften the contemporary lines of our Dune Nightstands, Dressers, and Bachelors Chests.

Lampakanay also features prominently on our Woodside Bed. The plantation hardwood frame is hand-wrapped with Lampakanay in either a white sand (shown) or natural finish. Woodside is also available as a canopy bed for the ultimate beach getaway vibe.

Sometimes just a touch of texture is all you need. This abaca wrapped pull on our Dune Nightstand is a tactile, glamorous design detail we can’t resist.

Everyday can feel like a beach getaway with our Sesta Collection. The grasscloth textured drawer fronts bring an easygoing elegance to the bedroom, and the organic style draws inspiration from the enduring appeal of coastal living.

In the bedroom, we often rely on the bed and headboard to be the focal point of the room. What better way to make a design statement than with our Dune bed? We can’t resist the way the alternating wood and upholstery panels add movement and texture to a space. Customize it with your choice of finish and fabrics.
